1. Can I track the location of a SIM card online?
No. Tracking the real-time location of a SIM card or a mobile device is strictly restricted to law enforcement agencies and intelligence services for national security purposes. Any public website or application claiming to offer "Live GPS tracking" or "Location Tracking" of private citizens is fraudulent and illegal. The PTA strictly prohibits public access to this data.
2. Can I see the name and address of an unknown number calling me?
No. Due to strict data privacy laws enforced by NADRA and the PTA, the public cannot access the private registration details (name, address, CNIC) of other individuals. Apps that provide caller ID rely on crowdsourced data (saving contacts from other users' phones) and are not linked to official government databases.
3. What is the maximum number of SIMs I can have?
The PTA has mandated that an individual Pakistani citizen can have a maximum of five (5) voice SIMs and three (3) data-only SIMs registered against one CNIC at any given time, across all mobile networks combined.
4. Why is my biometric verification failing?
Biometric verification might fail due to several reasons, such as faded fingerprints (common in manual laborers or the elderly), cuts on the thumb, or server downtime between NADRA and the telecom operator. If your prints continuously fail, you may need to visit a NADRA office to update your biometric records or use alternative identity verification methods provided for exceptional cases.
5. How do I transfer ownership of a SIM to my name?
To transfer SIM ownership, both the current owner and the new owner must visit the official franchise of the network operator together. Both individuals must present their original CNICs and provide biometric verification to authorize the transfer. You cannot transfer ownership without the presence and consent of the current registered owner.
